Central State Hospital
Central State Hospital, a no longer functional mental institution, is one of
Indianapolis' most talked about haunted locations.
 It is perhaps known
better for its' paranormal activity these days than it was for its'
medical
advice
.  It was started in the late 1800s, originally called the Indiana Hospital
for the Insane.  It housed many thousands of patients during its time, from
the mildly disabled, to the criminally insane.  After its long and violent
history, the institution was shut down in 1994, leaving us with many stories
of paranormal activity behind these walls.  A great history, with several
accounts of activity in the hospital, written by Mark Meriman can be found
here.  It is well worth the read and should be checked out by all means.
PROOF got the chance to spend some time inside of the building, thanks to
some great people we'd met, Robert and Kristy.  Not a lot of people get to
spend time inside any of these buildings, at least legally.  This hospital is
OFF LIMITS to the public, and can only be accessed with special
permission.  The grounds can be accessed for photos, etc, but stay out of the
buildings.  The Indianapolis Police Department patrols this area regularly,
and TRESPASSERS WILL BE ARRESTED!  Don't risk it.
During our investigation, we did not uncover any thermal, video, audio, or
photo evidence that we can share with you.  However, a red, human-shaped
figure was seen visually by a member on the grounds.  Immediately,
another member reached for a digital voice recorder.  This recorder had
been stocked with fresh Duracells before leaving for the hospital that night.
It had not been used at all that night,
not for a single recording, and when
taken out, the batteries were drained almost all the way down.  At the same
time, EMF readings spiked dramatically and slowed to nothing, all while the
EMF detector was being held in the same spot.  Footsteps were heard that
seemed to come from everywhere.
This was all within about a two minute time period, and we were definitely
left feeling followed by something or someone.  As skeptical as we try to
remain, it was very hard to in this situation.  In our opinion, there is
definitely activity at Central State.
As mentioned before, no presentable evidence was found, only stories to pass
along.  However, click the

Hospital.  We hope to return for further investigation, so
check back often!
