Basement Cry
This has been a while ago, I can't remember the exact year. When I was living
with my parents, I was asleep in my room one night. I was awaken by what
sounded like a baby crying, coming through the basement vents. I walked out
into the hall and had heard it there as well. Upon entering the garage, I walked
down the stairs leading to the basement. When I turned the light on the crying
stopped.
Not thinking to much of this I went back to bed, thinking it was all in my head. A
little time had passed, this time it was even louder. I still tried to go back to
sleep and was finally able to. The next morning I informed my parents of this
and they laughed at me. They said it was probably a cat in heat and I accepted
this as there were some strays in the neighborhood. Now here's where it gets
interesting. All the basement windows had plastic bubbles on them to keep out
the rain. All the doors were shut and locked. My parents and I were the only
ones in the house at that time. We had no animals of any kind then either. If it
were in fact a cat, I would have seen it leaving the house.
